Marietta Museum of History
My graduate internship was done at the Marrietta Museum of History. While there I helped update current exhibit, process incoming collections, and took inventory.

![]() Using an old pantyhose sleeve over the bristles of a vacuum cleaner accessory, I vacuumed off the minute particles of dust that had settled on mannequins clothing after an exhibit was taken down. | ![]() The vacuum cleaner is only used for textiles. |
![]() Every second Tuesday of the month, the Marietta Museum of History holds “Pop In for Pop Culture,” which focuses on a certain topic during the 1940’s to the 1960’s. During the month of June, the topic was Arts and Crafts. I helped prepare for the event and I helped set up. During the event, I was stationed at the paper American flag station where I created a prototype as seen in the image above. | ![]() In small museums, you have to get creative with things. One of the many things I did while at the Marietta Museum of History was to create mannequin arms out of old pantyhose and fabric batting. These arms need not look realistic, they only need to keep the arms of the outfits straight. |
![]() I also dressed many mannequins, such as this one. (He is wearing a couple of my fake arms!) | ![]() While I was performing my internship, the Marietta Museum of History was in the middle of creating a new exhibit. Part of the new exhibit was a Victorian Doll House (or wedding shop). |
![]() I was tasked with setting up the inside of the shop. | ![]() One of the final things I did as an intern was to inventory the tool collection. Inventorying allows the museum to know what is missing, what is in a wrong location, or what is no longer relevant to their museum. This is a woodworkers handplane. |
